International Relations

International Relations is one the fastest growing fields within social sciences due to the fact that public policy formation at national level hinges upon international factors to a degree higher than ever before. Furthermore business, political and non-governmental organizations have to take into account the increasingly international context in which they function. Indeed, a high proportion of new laws and regulations enacted in Poland over the past decade have focused on the process of adapting Polish domestic policies to European Union norms and to other international requirements.

20080126_dzien_afrykanski.jpgThe Department of International Relations at Collegium Civitas prides itself on its innovativeness and dynamism. The Department emphasis is on training students to be able to conduct a rigorous, time efficient analysis of events shaping the modern, globalized international environment. The training provided enables students to assume positions in government, business, NGOs and within academe. The Department's areas of strength are international politics, strategic studies, world economy and history, international law, negotiation and multicultural studies. Student areas of specialization include the European Union, Diplomacy, and Strategic Studies. Because the BA and MA programs at the Department are genuinely interdisciplinary, students are encouraged to take courses offered outside the Department of International Relations.

Collegium Civitas has attracted a group of distinguished scholars, diplomats and policy makers to teach the BA and MA Programs in International Relations. The Chair of the Department is Professor Wojciech Roszkowski, expert on 20th Century international history and a Member of the European Parliament. The Vice Chair of the Department is Dr Julian Pankow. The Department Faculty includes Professor Jacek Saryusz-Wolski, Vice President of the EPP in the EU Parliament, former Minister for European Integration and former Vice President of the European Parliament; Professor Jan Grabowski and Ambassadors Robert Mroziewicz, Maciej Koźmiński and Ryszard Żółtaniecki. The Department Faculty also prides itself on containing a group of young, dynamic scholars who contribute to its creative learning environment.

Students receive exposure to real life policy issues through an internship program which offers entry level positions in both the Polish public and private sectors and within Polish Embassies and Consulates abroad.

The Department grants BA and MA degrees.
