Public transport

In Warsaw there are trams, city buses, suburban buses and the underground (metro). Students enjoy a 50% discount on the bus, tram and metro tickets.

Buses and trams are the safest and cheapest means of transport in big cities in Poland. You can use most of the lines between 5 a.m. and 11 p.m. on working days. Bear in mind that they are usually crowded in rush hours. The bus and tram tickets can be bought in kiosks, ticket machines located at stops or you can buy them directly from drivers (for additional fee).

A regular single ticket costs 2,40 PLN, the student rate is 1,20 PLN (with a student ID!). A monthly city card is 33,00 PLN (the student’s fare).

Warsaw's underground has one line, which goes south-north and has the main stop near the Palace of Culture and Science. It operates between 5 a.m. and 11.15 p.m.

Taxis are available all day long. The average cost is 2 PLN per kilometer. We recommend using corporate taxis (with a visible telephone number).
